The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association has announced the preliminary winners of the Heart & Hustle Award. This award recognizes a player’s commitment to the game and dedication to baseball values and traditions. Former players, coaches and fans vote for the final winner of the award.
Voting is open now until Nov. 22. Fans can vote once a day and will be able to vote for their favourite players at every position. The winning player will be announced at the 18th annual Legends for Youth Dinner on November 14.
Voting is divided by League and position, with the nominees listed alphabetically by last name and first initial. The ballot also includes one (1) designated hitter, and one (1) alternate player. Fans may also write in one player per position if they do not see their choice on the ballot.
After an adjustment year in 2003, the Astros Game found greater success in 2004. Biggio was paired with Jeff Bagwell, the 1991 National League Rookie of the Year, to help Houston climb the standings.
